Not my recipe but i did change the milk and golden syrup quantity to try and cut a bit of sugar out of it. I wouldn't eat this all the time, but it is a bit of a treat and a great winter dessert. You could substitute the Golden Syrup with: treacle, or maple syrup
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
40 grams Butter
2 cups Self Raising Flour
1/2 teaspoon of natural vanilla essence
1/2 cup Golden Syrup
2 Eggs
1 cup Almond Milk
1/4 cup skim milk
What you need:
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
40 grams Butter
2 cups Self Raising Flour
1/2 teaspoon of natural vanilla essence
1/2 cup Golden Syrup
2 Eggs
1 cup Almond Milk
1/4 cup skim milk
What to do:
- Turn your slow cooker onto HIGH and add 1 litre of water to the basin and place the lid on for the water to heat.
- Find a heat proof dish (preferably ceramic) that will fit into your slow cooker and give it a quick spray with canola oil.
- Add the 1/2 cup of golden syrup to the bottom of the dish.
- In a separate bowl, cream butter and brown sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time.
- Fold sifted ingredients and milk alternatively into creamed mixture.
- Spoon the mixture carefully over the golden syrup and place the container carefully into the slow cooker water bath.
- Cook on HIGH without removing the lid for two to two and a half hours.
- Serve with cream or ice cream and a little extra syrup if needed
